Scarlett and the Seahorse

Interesting fact: I painting this woman a year or two ago. I added the seahorse and finished it yesterday.

Green Poodle

I love, love, love poodles. It's on my bucket list to adopt a standard one someday. (Although I did have a poodle mix several years ago who I miss madly.) They are one of the most intelligent breeds, they are beautiful, soft and hypoallergenic. What's not to love?

I'm usually a traditional painter, but lately I've been a little bored and needing a change, so I'm messing around a little bit with digital art. I'm pleased with the outcome.

Road Trip!

My sister and I went on a super fun crazy magical road trip! We went to Arizona to visit our brother and his family, then visited Nevada on the way home.

We tried on silly hats at a gas station in Beaver, Utah.

I gave a cactus a great big hug because they always look so cuddly.

We saw lots of fun, random stuff along the highway.

In Las Vegas we stayed at the coolest hotel ever--The Artisan. There was famous art everywhere, including on the ceilings! We slept in the Leonardo da Vinci room.

On Your Walls

One of the most rewarding things about being an artist is knowing other people are enjoying my "children" (hopefully) as much as I enjoy the work of my favorite artists. (Where would I be without Michael Shapcott, Charles Dwyer, Sofia Bonati, Van Gogh, Waterhouse, Marc Chagall, etc.?) So it thrills me when collectors send me photos of my work on their walls. I thought I'd share a few.

Just For Fun

During my teen years pastels were my medium of choice. Over the years I have favored acrylics and have neglected my old friend. A few days ago I decided to draw an octopus on the sidewalk. Totally worth it--I felt like a kid again. Sometimes art should be created just for the sake of fun.

Girl With Cat 2

If you can't tell by now, I love animals. Like love them-love them. Love them so much, I watch animal documentaries, visit pet stores for a free zoo-like experience (and to torture myself), draw them at church, pet nearly every cat and dog in sight, and cry whenever I think of Maggie, my dog I had to give up five years ago and can't stop thinking about.

Dream

I made this today. It consists of faux fur, cork, collage materials, metal and rusty bottle caps. I've been picking up rusty bottle caps for years. I finally found a use for them.

Park City

My mom, sister and I have an annual tradition to visit Park City every spring. We eat amazing food, savor the art at the numerous galleries, swim, shop, watch lame TV and act like idiots. I look
forward to this time every year.

The Roaring 20s!

For the past several years, I've had a thing for the 1920s, particularly the style and fashion. Even my wedding getup had a '20s feel. But lately I'm obsessed with the era. I'm sure Downton Abbey didn't help matters.
I've started making flapper rag dolls, altered art dolls and even '20's themed collages.
I discovered the adorable actress Colleen Moore and have put three of her photos up in my bedroom! Louise Brooks is another favorite. Someday I want to wear a gorgeous flapper dress and wear it to someplace nice.

S+K

My brother, who also happens to be a talented film maker and one of my best friends, got married recently. I decided to surprise him and his lovely wife by painting their portrait as a wedding gift. I was pleased as punch by their reaction--and that they hung it in a prominent spot in their new home.

Aster

First painting of the year! Happy 2015! I got new stencils for Christmas--can you tell? I like how this painting has a sort of bohemian vibe.

2014 Year in Review

It was a wonderful year. It was a challenging year.
I got to meet my brother in NYC and then ride the bus to DC.

I FINALLY met my boyfriend, Johnny Depp. Even wax Johnny Depp is hot.

I did LOTS of intense therapy. It was very painful. Healing is wonderful but it HURTS. I can't even tell you how many panic attacks I had.
I went to the zoo. I love animals the way most people love chocolate and peanut butter.
I met two of my favorite bands, Neon Trees and Phantogram. I also went to some awesome shows: Twenty-One Pilots, Morrissey, I took my girls to Paramore, plus I saw Broods, Phantogram, Capital Cities, and Neon Trees.
The man I did my first ever portrait commission for years ago (family aside) was convicted of murdering his wife (who he had me paint a month after he killed her). He wanted me to "immortalize her". Of course I didn't know it at the time. Creepy!
I published two books. A silly one with my brother and a novel. It's been a dream of mine since I was twelve. Buy your copy here:  http://www.amazon.com/Pictures-You-Juliette-Caron/dp/1499380771/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401157690&sr=8-1&keywords=juliette+caron
I tried landscape painting for the first time since junior high.
And animals.
I joined Displate, where one can buy metal art prints. Check it out: http://displate.com/juliettecaron
I made it into my first art directory. That was exciting!!!
Went on a short trip to Arizona.
Sedona is freakin' beautiful!
And last, but not least, I sold seventeen original paintings and fifteen prints! Dreams DO come true, folks. :)
