Rapture
Here is my latest piece. I struggled to give it a name; it describes so much of what I've been feeling lately--very hard to put into words. After shuffling through a dozen unsatisfying contenders, and then spending some quality time with a thesaurus, I felt Rapture was fitting.
Just For Fun
I thought it would be fun to post a painting, titled Resolute, I did ELEVEN years ago. This is the second acrylic painting I've ever done. I did my very first one a couple years earlier in a high school art class. I'd never even heard of it at that point, and treated it like watercolor. Later one of my closest friends showed me the way. It's interesting to see how my work has changed--and how it's stayed the same.

My (First Ever!) Solo Exhibit
Last night was a success! It feels surreal to have finally realized this goal--it's something I'd been dreaming about for half of my life. But I am also glad it is over because I was probably more nervous than excited.
Muse Music has a really cool, funky atmosphere.
Little 'ol me. Don't I look happy?
The crowd. Thanks to everyone who supported me last night! My work will remain there until the end of October, so mosey on over!
PS See a charcoal drawing of mine at the Utah County Art Gallery.

New Life
This painting is especially meaningful to me. I feel it represents a breakthrough I am making. I have finally found TRUE happiness. The most mundane things are magical to me. Every day I am finding a million reasons why I am glad to be alive.
Here is one of my favorite quotes:
"The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears."
-John Vance Cheney

Wallflower
I finally broke through my creative block and came up with this. I've always been drawn to color, but lately even more so. Perhaps it represents the happier time in my life I am experiencing.
This painting is titled "Wallflower", not because the woman is shy or socially awkward, but rather she is the one that observes at parties. People intrigue her, she likes to figure them out.

Art Auction For a Cause
Buy some beautiful art for a great cause. My friend, Sarah, is selling some of her art in a silent auction to help a special family who is faced with tragedy. Read more about it here: http://www.nierecovery.com/. And here is Sarah's blog: http://kyleplussarah.blogspot.com/ ...also, if you buy one of my pieces within the next 30 days, I will donate 50% of my online sales to the same cause.

I'm Still Here
I haven't been painting as much lately, in part because I have a lot of big, life-changing events studding my recent life. Another reason--I have ran into a creative block. It's not that I'm not feeling creative, it's just that I am ready to make some changes with my art and I am in a sort of experimental mode. And experimenting can actually be scary and at times I freeze and do nothing.
So I ran into this book and I've started reading it, and it's actually quite good. It's interesting how the right books come at the right time for me. Hopefully I will de-slump soon. I'll keep you posted.

Inside
This is one of my latest pieces, titled "Inside". It is 16x20 on canvas. The curly shape symbolizes the depth and inner-beauty that we all have inside of us. Here's a rare chance to get it on eBay for much less than my work normally goes for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260255776465
Also, mention this blog within the next 30 days to get 20% off of any of my available paintings on my website: juliettecaron.com.

This One's For My Beloved Brother
This is a painting I just finished for my brother. My reference was actually from an old magazine ad* that my brother, for reasons I will not get into,** had hanging on the wall above his bed for years. Anyway, long story short, I agreed to paint this for him in exchange for his super nice digital (almost) SLR, which I am very much enjoying. Stay tuned, more exciting art adventures to come...
*A Nike ad, I believe? Giving credit where credit is due.
** My brother would probably NOT appreciate me exposing ALL the details of his private life.

Unbending
I actually did this piece a while ago, but I just got around to photographing it. I titled it "Unbending" because this woman wants something, and there's no stopping her. Not surprisingly, I feel similarly right now. I have a few goals that I am very focused on these days. In fact, I find I can think of little else. I guess it really spoke to my mom, too. She fell in love instantly and bought it before I even photographed and posted it online. Ah, well, the lady gave birth to me, so she gets first dibs.
